The juror of this exhibit, Mr. Hubert Jackson, awarded my piece, Aspirations / Contemplation, with a fourth place award. According to Ms. Carrol Morgan, Curator of the FCCA, Mr. Jackson was impressed with the skill and creativity of my work. He stated:
"Optical Art and Perceptual Abstraction, a movement started in the 1960's is very reminiscent in this piece. Audrius Plioplys has chosen not to create a definite illusion of total space, but to created a beautiful color field of scintillating fine lines."

"6x6x2009"
Rochester Contemporary Art Center, Rochester, New York, June 6-July 12, 2009

The RCAC has organized its second fund-raiser in which artists from across the country have submitted works of art, all 6 inches X 6 inches in size. All proceeds from sales go to support the RCAC. I have submitted 6 pieces, in 6 different colors: 3 primary (yellow, red, blue) and 3 secondary (orange, purple, green). See the image of my blue piece to the left; click it for larger view.

Amongst the participating artists is Bill Viola, well known for his video installations. (As an historical asside, earlier in his career, Bill had a video installation at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel, where I also have exhibited my work.)
