Video of the Autumn Equinox laser show at the Varnupiai sacred mound

A 3-minute YouTube video of the autumn equinox celebration, including a laser show, is now available by clicking HERE. This took place on September 21 at the Varnupiai Sacred Mound in Lithuania. In the video there is no spoken language, just visual wonderment and musical spirituality.

This event was organized by the Marijampolė Cultural Center and the artists’ organization “Mūza”. This also commemorated the Baltic Day of Unity and the International Day of Peace.

The program included a performance by the Marijampolė Cultural Center’s Liudvinavas Theater Group “Žalias sodas,” and a concert by the ceremonial singing ensemble “Dijūta.” In the video, please note the traditional Lithuanian pagan clothing of the women.

The evening was crowned by a laser show organized by Žilvinas Lazauskas. The latter was donated by the event’s patron, the Lithuanian-American Prof. Dr. Audrius Plioplys.

“The Varnupiai mound is a special place for me. Here in 2021, I started creating a boulder art installation, based on the drawings of Prof. M. Gimbutienė. I am glad that many members of the public became actively involved in this project. The greatest achievement is that this was not a one-time event. It provided the basis for many subsequent activities at this site: artistic plein airs, meetings, and celebrations of holidays. My hope is for this mound to become a gathering place for cultural and artistic events, that this would become a part of the general community.” – says Prof. Dr. Audrius Plioplys.

The NeuroArt created by this expatriate artist and scientist is multifaceted and multi-layered. Therefore, the autumn equinox event combines several themes and time planes: traditions of the past, constant hope for peace, unity in the world, and modern technologies that give meaning to memory and create the future.
